This is a 10 month permanent appointment with a salary range of $38,000-$40,000

Miami University and the Mallory-Wilson Center for Healthcare Education seek a pre-health professions advisor to work with pre-health students by providing regular and timely guidance and assistance to students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, and to develop programing and resources for the center.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide pre-professional advising and support to undergraduate students enrolled in the Premedical and Pre-health Studies co-major and/or interested in a career in healthcare.

  • Teach one credit advising courses on career options and preparation of application materials.

  • Plan health-related on-campus programming and develop resources.

  • Monitor and maintain content for Center webpage.

  • Meet with prospective students and represent the pre-health program at recruiting and orientation events.

  • Maintain data and statistics on pre-health students, applications, acceptance rates, and assessment data.

  • Serve as Ex Officio member of the faculty Pre-health Advisory Committee.

  • Serve as a resource for faculty and other professional advisors across the University.

  • Advise and coordinate activities of student pre-health organizations.

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with Admission staff in medical and other health profession schools.

  • Engage in professional development opportunities through NAAHP and establish and maintain professional relationships with pre-health advisors in other institutions.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director and Assistant/Associate Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: Master’s degree in student affairs, higher education, or related field, or in a biological or physical science.

Consideration will be given to applicants with excellent written and oral communication skills; at least 12 months of advising student affairs experience in a university or college setting; experience with pre-health advising; experience working with high ability students; experience working with diverse student populations; understanding of the purpose and advantages of a liberal arts education; excellent organization, technological and collaborative skills; experience with tools such as native Banner, Workday, DARs, EAB Student Success Collaborative, and transferology.com.

Appointment will be a continuing 10-month appointment, August through May. The position can begin in January 2025.
