Summer Advisor/Teacher

What is Outset? 

Outset (joinoutset.com) is an education company that runs overnight summer academies for high school students interested in careers in medicine. Our mission is to help students interested in healthcare explore (1) what it takes to become a physician (the medical education path) and (2) what being a physician is like (the career itself). Many of our students are on financial aid or scholarships.

About the role

We are looking for pre-med advisors to come to our program in Nashville, TN for 3 weeks and lead our pre-med teaching sessions for 3 hours a day M-F. These sessions are a curriculum designed by Outset that essentially overview the medical education path and prepare students for how to succeed as a pre-med in college. The content and activities for these seminars is mostly prepared but you will have to learn the content and deliver it effectively.

Who are we looking for? We are looking for a current or retired pre-med advisor who is passionate about mentorship and teaching. You should be energetic and excited about presenting and speaking to high school students. This is a fun role for the right person!

Dates and compensation

• Dates: June 15 - July 4, 2025 (3 weeks)
• Location: Nashville, TN
• Compensation: we will pay for roundtrip transport (mileage or airfare) to Nashville, local accommodations in Nashville for 3 weeks, a daily meal stipend, and hourly pay for your time teaching sessions, usually 15 hours a week. Our standard pay range is $40-60/hour depending on experience. 

Please note: this is a temporary, part-time role! You will have plenty of free time to explore Nashville.
