Head of Pre-med Advising (New York City - summer)

What is Outset? 

Outset (joinoutset.com) is an education company based in New York, NY that operates residential summer programs for high school students exploring careers in medicine. Our mission is to help students understand what it takes to become a physician and what being a physician is like (the career itself).

About the role

We are looking for Health Profession Advisors to teach our pre-med advising curriculum in New York, NY over 4-6 weeks in June and July 2026. The exact dates and times each week are TBD, but typically the work involves about 15 hours of teaching each week. Our curriculum was designed with input from our NAAHP advisory board and sessions include an overview of the medical education path. The goal is to prepare students for how to succeed as a pre-med in college and help students build confidence. The content and activities for these seminars is prepared but our teachers must learn the content and deliver it effectively.

Who are we looking for? We are looking for current or retired Health Professions Advisors who are passionate about mentorship and teaching. We want to find someone who is excited about presenting and speaking to high school students interested in medicine.

Compensation

Our standard pay range is $40-60/hr depending on experience. We also reimburse for transportation costs to/from the teaching location (ie, subway costs or mileage/parking).
