Part-Time Admissions Reader

The position requires reading and evaluating Geisel School of Medicine MD program admissions applications. The application reading season is a crucial and busy time for the admissions office, so successful candidates will possess strong time management and reading/writing skills.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Strong time management skills.
• Strong reading/writing skills.
• Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse community.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree.
• Experience in higher education, counseling, pre-health advising, or admissions.

Ideal candidate will have time to read 30-50 applications a week, sometimes more during busy cycles. We carefully examine any conflict of interest, so we are unlikely to hire anyone currently advising for an institution or private company. This job is likely most ideal for retired former admissions committee members or retired pre-health advisors.

Accountabilities:

• Attends training sessions regarding the reading process in July.
• Participates fully in the application review process from July through January.
• Reading and evaluating MD applications to the Geisel School of Medicine; reviews application materials online.
• Commit to reading 800 applications (reading approximately 115 applications/month for 7 months).
• Has availability to attend meetings or trainings during office hours (remotely).
