As part of the CHP Pathways to Practice Initiative (CPPI) — a grant-funded program supported by the New York State Department of Health — this position enhances the pipeline of students entering health professions by delivering academic support, career preparation, and graduate school readiness programming in partnership with the Office of Academic Advising, faculty, and campus partners.

Position Duties

  • Advise and support students pursuing pre-health pathways (e.g., medicine, PA, PT, OT, nutrition, nursing, and public health) across all university schools and campuses.
  • Collaborate with academic advisors to align course planning and prerequisite completion for graduate school eligibility.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops and events on topics such as graduate application preparation, personal statements, and interview skills.
  • Maintain current knowledge of health professions graduate program requirements and emerging trends.
  • Develop partnerships with graduate institutions and external healthcare organizations to expand experiential learning opportunities.
  • Coordinate communication, outreach, and event promotion across campuses and colleges.
  • Attend recruitment and yield events such as Open House and PaceBound (some weekend events required).
  • Support data collection, documentation, and reporting related to program outcomes and grant deliverables.
  • Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred in education, biology, psychology, public health, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in academic advising, pre-health advising, or student success roles.
  • Strong understanding of health professions admission processes (e.g., AMCAS, CASPA, AACOMAS).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated experience in program coordination or event planning.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and campuses.
  • Commitment to expanding access to health professions education and supporting the success of students from varied backgrounds and pathways.
